Leading up to our graduate capstone project, our final design research assignment was to write, compile and design an exegesis. This was to include a research map (with multiple iterations showing progression), case studies, annotations of literature studied, a 100-images visual inspiration exercise, and a project proposal.
This project sparked my interest in design research and design academia in general. I thoroughly enjoyed taking a deep dive into a subject matter that I was passionate about and expanding my knowledge of it. As I set out on this research journey, all I knew was that I wanted my design practice to have an impact and to create change. However, upon completion of this project, I gained a new sense of purpose and finally grounded myself as a designer, researcher, and as an individual.
It was this project that inspired me to continue with further study and pursue my Masters degree.
